Dear Friends, Neighbors and Supporters,
I am thrilled to announce that I am running for re-election to the Lexington-Richland Five School Board. It has been an honor to serve our community and work alongside dedicated educators, parents and students to improve our schools. I appreciate all of the support I have received from the people of Lexington County.
Over the last four years we handled COVID-19 better than any other school district in South Carolina and we made significant strides in enhancing the quality of education and ensuring that every student has the resources they need to succeed. I am proud of the progress we have made, but there is still more work to be done.
As a school board trustee, my priorities have always been:
· Ensuring Educational Quality: Focusing on literacy, math and other core subjects to prepare students for college, the military and/or well-paying careers.
· Promoting Teacher Retention and Recruitment: We must provide our teachers and staff with competitive pay. We must reduce administrative burdens and support classroom discipline from the board on down.
· Ensuring Fiscal Accountability: Ensuring finances are transparent, resource allocation is focused on the classroom and waste is eliminated.
· Safeguarding Students and Staff: Implementing the highest quality safety practices, including physical safety, discipline and bullying prevention.
· Ensuring Appropriate Books and Materials are in Classrooms and Libraries: I have worked diligently to have an improved process and if I am re-elected, I know that we will accomplish our goals to ensure that we have appropriate learning in accordance with state law.
I believe in the potential of every student and am committed to making our schools a place where they can thrive. With your support, we can continue to build on the foundation we have laid and achieve even greater success for our community.
I am excited to continue this journey and work together to make our schools the best they can be. I look forward to earning your vote and continuing to serve you on the school board.
Thank you for your support!
Catherine
